Poverty Reduction

SURF-AS is actively engaged in building and supporting the regional and national capacities of the Arab States to reduce multi-dimensional poverty. With human poverty estimated at 27% in the region, poverty reduction must be a priority. Across the region, there is a growing awareness and recognition that the application of pro-poor policies is vital for the achievement of the MDGs – and that UNDP is best positioned to forge this nexus.

SURF-AS helps determine and apply solutions to the challenges posed by multi-dimensional poverty through the integrated support of Policy Advisors in the fields of macro-economics, poverty reduction strategies and trade policy.
